Birthday Week - Day 1

My birthday is on a Wednesday this year and since Wednesday is in the middle of the week, Jon has decided to make my birthday a week-long event! (I'm pretty excited about that)

Day #1 was yesterday, which was also Father’s Day so we didn’t do much in celebration of my birth but Jon did give me my first present.

About a month ago my battery died in my car key so I had to actually use the key to unlock the door (tragic right?) Well the battery was out in my spare key too and I couldn’t figure out how to change the battery to get it working. Jon fixed both keys and they both work now!

No idea how he did it but I think it’s great that he fixed them for me!

Father's Day #2

Our second Father's Day was spent with my family. We woke up early and met my Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law, her Mom and Nephews and headed down to Harmony Valley Farm. Today was Strawberry Day at the farm! They had a potluck, tour and strawberry picking! It was a long drive down to the farm but we had a ton of fun and ate strawberries till we were bursting!

I think I ate more strawberries than I actually took home

My dad's face is priceless

Jon having his first experience of eating a freshly picked strawberry. He described is as "super delicious" and "the best he's ever had"

Strawberry juice face!

Father's Day #1

Our first Father's Day was spent with Jon's parents. We took them out to eat at Osaka where they decided to tell the waitress that it was my birthday so we could get a dessert. They sang a song and made me put this head on.

Don't I look hot?

I made Jon put it on too.

For the gift we gave Jon's dad a bean bag toss game. Since it was raining on Saturday we set it up inside and played the game for a few hours.

Overall it was a VERY fun evening.

A Bittersweet Evening

Yesterday some good friends of ours got married! We are so happy for them! It was a gorgeous day which made the outdoor wedding perfect. They got married at Camrose Hill Farm. It is a beautiful venue. There was plenty of room to have the wedding outside on the lawn and then they also have a reception area there too.

Getting to go to the wedding was the "sweet" part of the evening. The "bitter" part came when I realized I lost an earring. It's not just any earring. It was an earring I inherited from my mom. I even remember going with my dad to the jewelery store to help him pick them out. Now I have plenty of other things from my mom that mean a lot to me but what makes it sad is that I know I will never to get more. I can only loose those sentimental things so I want to hold on to all the ones I have for as long as possible.

Saturday

Jon and I had a pleasent day today so I thought I would blog about it.

Late in the afternoon we had an awesome meal at Joe's Garage in downtown Minneapolis. We were able to sit outside, enjoy the beautiful weather and people watch.

We got Bruschetta to start

Jon got a Turkey Bruschetta Burger

I got Buffalo Chicken salad

Yum!

Once our bellies were full we walked through Loring park and came across a water fountain that Jon fell in love with. I think it looks like a dead dandelion - in a cool way.

Then we headed to a hotel that Jon's whole family was staying at. Since we had just eaten they left us in charge of watching all the kids while they went and ate. Not sure if that was a good idea but we survived.

How many babies can you count? (PS I'm also holding one while I took this picture)

Shamrock's

On Monday night Jon and I went out to eat for Jon's Birthday. We decided to go to Shamrock's. Not only do they apparently have really good Juicy Lucys but now they have a Lobster Machine that Jon really wanted to try.

Here's a video of him trying it.

Jake and Sarah's Wedding

Last weekend Jon got to be apart of his best friend's wedding.

Jake and Sarah got married on May 29th and Redwing's St James Hotel. The venue was beautiful! The wedding was indoors in a room that over looks the river and surrounding woods.

Another of Jon's good friends came for the wedding too. Here's all of us...

Jon looked pretty good in his tux

but no matter how much I dress him up he will still be a kid at heart.
